On October 1, 2016 Covington Investment Advisors sponsored the opening night concert of the 48th season of the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra.  As the Orchestra began their season the staff and guests of Covington Investment Advisors enjoyed “Brasstacular” at the Palace Theatre.  This concert featured Brandon Ridenour on trumpet with Daniel Meyer conducting.  Musical selections included Trumpet Concerto by Arutiunian; Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8 and the very familiar William Tell Overture by Rossini.

At Covington not only do we strive to meet our clients’ financial goals we also focus on making a difference in our community.  Fostering creativity in our schools is the key to continued growth and success for children and Covington is passionate about helping our children.  One of the ways we try to make a difference in children’s lives is to sponsor the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra’s Young People’s Concerts and the Visiting Artists Programs.

The Young People’s Concerts are classical musical programs of short, often familiar, pieces that children easily recognize and enjoy.  Students from the Latrobe and Ligonier schools travel to the Palace Theatre to attend these concerts.

The Symphony’s Visiting Artists Program sends small ensembles to the schools to provide programs demonstrating instruments and performing music from many styles and time periods.  This program entertains and educates as well as encourages students to discover the joys of live music making.

Covington plans to continue its support of these programs and hopes our friends and colleagues might also decide to support the symphony by attending their concerts or becoming a contributing supporter.  Further information is available on their website www.westmorelandsymphony.org or by contacting Mr. Morrie Brand at 724-837-1850.
